Just to let everyone know that I am writing again in ernest, I am currently working on a cookery book that investigates the basics of cooking, my own recipes and a deep dive into the food we used to eat from our grand parents days when austerity was the name of the game. I hope you find it interesting.
A chance encounter last month sowed a seed… I now have access to a diary written by a soldier in The Buffs from Canterbury during the First World War, rather than the normal Western Front type diaries, this one is based in India during 1918/1919 encompassing the third Afghan war with the enemy being the heat, dust and tropical disease. I am co-authoring this book with Ian O’Grady, a former colleague and battlefield tour specialist, his knowledge of this area is welcome and we hope you will enjoy the finished result, it will take the form of The Letters where a page will be written up, explained in detail together with what was happening on the home front. All royalties for this book will go to the Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment benevolent fund. We are looking forward to 2025! More to follow… Working title is ‘Oi Clayson, where are my rations?’
